.22 Rimfire Matches


2021 Rimfire Match Details

Saturday Morning .22 Rimfire Bench Rest Match
This match is held on the Third Saturday of each month

  • Runs March – October, starting at 8:00 am.
  • The match is held at the .22 range.
  • Safety briefing is at 7:50 am.
  • This match is not held on days when the high temperature forecast is below 40°.
  • Targets are paper.
  • 25 shots per match.
  • Fees. The match fee is $5 for the first gun and $2 for the second gun. Any .22 long rifle can be used. Targets are paper only.

    Classes:
  • Factory class (off the shelf rifle).
    This class is divided
     into Factory light and Factory heavy depending on the stock and barrel, using the American Rimfire Association Factory Class target at 50 yards. Scope power will be 12X or less.
  • Open sight class (blade or peep). 50 yards using the NRA A-23 paper target.
  • Sporting class at 50-yards using IBS target. Scope power is not restricted.
  • Match Rifle Class. 50 yards using the IBS target. Scope power is not restricted. 
  • Open Class
    80 yards using the American Rifle Association targets. Open to Match, Sporter, or Factory class.
    Scope power not restricted. 
Match Directors have the final say on any rifle classification.

Match Class
Unlimited scope power
Stock may be any width
Barrel, action or sleeve can be bedded
Bedding can be by glue-in or bolt-in
Vibration tuning devices are allowed
No electronic or mechanically assisted triggers are allowed
Rifles must sit entirely on bench and cannot be attached to the bench

Open Site (Blade or peep) with no scope

Factory Gun 
Depends on barrel thickness and stock design. There are many varmint 22’s that have match chambers and a heavy barrel. These would go into the Heavy Factory class.

Factory Light
This gun would have a standard barrel and a standard stock.

The Match Director has the final say on gun classification.


Saturday Morning .22 Rimfire Fun Match
This match is held on the Second Saturday.

  • Runs year around, starting at 9:00 am. 
  • Safety briefing is at 8:50 am.
  • Fee. The match fee is $5 per gun.
  • This match is not held on days when the high temperature forecasted is below 40°.
  • Targets are reactive steel.
  • Shooters will fire from standing and bench rest positions. 
  • Course of fire is 10 shots in 60 seconds from 8 different positions for a total of 80 shots per match. 

    Classes: 
  • Iron and optical sighted rifles. Ranges are 25 and 40 yards for rifles 
  • Iron and optical sighted pistols. Ranges are 15 and 25 yards for pistols.

Match Director is 

Thursday Morning .22 Ron Gearren Memorial Bench Rest Match

This match is held on the Thursday after the Saturday Morning .22 Rimfire Bench Rest Match each month

  • Runs March – October, starting at 8:00 am. 
  • The match is held at the .22 range.
  • This match is not held on days when the high temperature forecasted is below 40°.
  • Targets are paper.
  • 25 shots per match.
  • These are “fun matches” and are not affiliated with any BR organization.
  • Classes:

  • Factory class (off the shelf rifle).
  • This class is divided into Factory light and Factory heavy depending on the stock and barrel, using the American Rimfire Association Factory Class target at 50 yards. Scope power will be 12X or less.
  • Open sight class (blade or peep). 50 yards using the NRA A-23 paper target.

Eligibility

Competition is open to the public.   

Equipment

Required Equipment: Hearing protection; eye protection.

Highly Recommended Equipment:  It is desirable but not mandatory that each shooter consider Long sleeve shirt and long pants, hat, sunscreen, shooting mat or carpet (about 3′ x 6′), ammo for practice, food and drink.

Entry Fees

  • $5.00 first gun
  • $2.00 for second gun
